Orange is one of my least favorite colors. I know that’s a random fact nobody really cares about, but it’s the first thing I thought when reading the color orange was the Review Crews topic for this week’s writing challenge.

Following my initial thought of distaste for the showy hue, I quoted aloud one of my favorite movie lines, “But I will not wear that gaudy orange, I will not. It is not my color wheel and I’m not gonna wear it.” If you’ve not seen The Blind Side, I highly recommend it.
This morning as I went outside, I felt only a hint of chill. Fall weather has been much warmer than usual for our area. Leaves on our trees are barely beginning to change. That’s when it hit me. I really do like orange, but only when it’s on the correct canvas.
I was recently cleaning out some computer files and recall seeing pictures Jacob had taken during last year’s photography class. The lesson was on lighting so the pictures were taken at different times of the day. They have not been edited or cropped as they are homework shots. They are from last fall, and they are filled with beauty. Even some orange.
As we progress further into the fall season, I look forward to leaves changing and the landscape bursting with color. The local forecast suggests cooler fall temperatures later this week.
As autumn colors change the landscape, I anticipate Jacob will be taking new pictures filled with hints of orange. I’m sure they will be beautiful. That said, if I’m out shopping for a new fall sweater, I will pass by any that are orange. I will not wear that gaudy orange, I will not.
